Gigi Mezzo Genovese has honed her artistic talents and explored the depths of her expression through her creations in realism. Gigi works with several media, oil, acrylic, pen and ink, pastels and watercolor, acrylic being her favorite. Her romance with the sea and its domain has evolved to include seascapes, architecture, landscapes, interiors and still life. Such a symbiotic relationship has broadened her sights to feel and share a simplicity, beauty and flavor of spirit that is not limited to the Northeast.
From her studio she has created paintings that grace many private collections from coast to coast as well as in Great Britain. The Governor's Residence Conservancy through the State of Connecticut's Acquisition Panel accepted a painting that is displayed on a permanent basis in the Governor's Mansion in Hartford. Her work has been shown in Los Angeles and she has exhibited her work throughout Connecticut, Block Island and Providence, RI, New York City and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She has also exhibited her work at the Wally Findlay Galleries and the Agora Gallery both in New York City. Genovese has received several awards for her work in juried shows over the years.
As stated by Gigi, "There are many benefits of being an artist. I feel very fortunate to have the ability of placing my thoughts on a panel. One displays their inner soul to the public. It's a very personal feeling knowing I can capture the mood of what I see and feel and convey that to onlookers. A bond forms between the painting and the viewer. When I catch a glimpse of this, I see the emotions that surface on the viewers face, a very satisfying reward."
Ms. Genovese has been listed in the Artist's Bank at the Connecticut Commission on the Arts in Hartford. She i8s currently a member of the Pen and Brush in New York City. The galleries that represent her work in Connecticut are the Gilded Lily in Milford, Center Art in Hartford, Artisans Harbor in Old Saybrook and the Tsetse Gallery in New London and Providence, Rhode Island.
