Dana is an award winning, third generation artist, who prefers to paint from life, using a live model or outdoor setting. The unifying quality and primary focus in her painting is the use of light. Her unique choice of color is greatly influenced by her earlier career in the fashion industry, where she worked for Saks Fifth Ave., Anne Klein & Co, And Blassport Ltd.
Although she often paints in the impressionist or abstract mode, her training has been in the classical tradition. She received a B.A. (Art and Art History) from Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y., and has studied at the Arts Students League in N.Y.C. and the Silvermine Guild School in Connecticut. She has studied with George Passantino, John Phillip Osborne, and is currently studying with David Dunlop.
Galleries in Darien, New Canaan, and Westport, Connecticut and Southampton, Long Island represent Dana. She is a member of the Greenwich Art Society; the Darien Art Society, The New Canaan Society for the Arts, The Lyme art Association, The Artists Alliance of East Hampton, and has served of the board of the Rowayton Art Center for seven years. She is also a member of the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Fairfield County Plein-aire Painters and is on the board of the Wilson Ave. Loft Artists Association. Her paintings are in collections through New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, South Carolina and Florida.
