Chet Saur

Upon graduation from college in an unrelated field, Chet went on to study at the Art Students League in New York. While there she was fortunate enough to study under well-known illustrator Robert E. Schulz and fine artist Frank Liljegren. She also studied under John Howard Sanden, an internationally known portrait artist.

Chet Saur paints portraits and landscapes in oils. She paints representationally. She is well known in her area for her lifelike renditions of local scenes and her portraits of children at play.

She took the Corporate Prize in the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Show in New York in 1991. She also was represented in the Audubon Artists 1992 Show and the 1990 Allied Artists and 1990 Faber Birren Art shows. She showed at the New Haven Paint and Clay Show. Those are all prestigious juried national shows.

Closer to home, Chet Saur won first place in oils in the Connecticut Classic Artists’ competition of 1990 and third place in 1991. Mrs. Saur won first place for oils in the Kent Art Association 2004 summer show and participated in the Art on the Avenue Show on Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich CT 2005 through 2014.

Her goal in her endeavors is to capture the good, the beautiful and the true, to further her abilities, and to perhaps brighten up someone’s day.
