Peter Yesis

A native of New Jersey, Peter now works from his home studio in Searsport, Maine, painting beautiful marine and rustic landscapes and still-life arrangements in a realistic style softened by his own subjective interpretation. His paintings intentionally leave space for thought and reflection and are composed to find a balance between detail and atmosphere. “When I am painting, my goal is to draw the viewer’s attention to the underlying beauty as I interpret it and hold them long enough so they discover and feel something of their own.”

Peter has studied and taken workshops with noted New England painter, Stapleton Kearns, and plein air painter, Debra Joy Groesser. His work has been juried into national exhibitions by the International Guild of Realism, Salon International, Oil Painters of America, the American Plains Artists, the C.M. Russell Auction and the American Impressionist Society and well as a number of regional shows. His paintings have been purchased by artists, collectors and institutions nationally and internationally.

Current representation includes: The Gallery at Somes Sound in Somesville, Maine; The Camden Falls Gallery in Camden, Maine; the Fore Street Gallery in Portland, Maine; and, most recently, by the Geary Gallery in Darien, Connecticut.

Peter is a member of the International Guild of Realism and Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, and the Plein Air Painters of Maine.
