Susan Budash grew up in Chicago and first displayed an interest in the visual arts while in elementary school. Recognizing this creative potential, her parents enrolled her in weekly art classes at the Heritage Art Gallery, with the late Jack Simmerling. Susan was his student from the age of ten until she was a sophomore at Morgan Park High School, when she then majored in the Fine Arts. Following high school graduation, Susan worked in the computer industry for the next 30 years, residing in New Jersey, Rhode Island and currently in the Niagara Region of New York State. In 1990 she enrolled in the Fine Arts Department at the State University of New York/Buffalo, graduating with a BFA in Printmaking and subsequently earning an MA in Contemporary Modern Art History in 1997.
With the completion of her MA, Susan Budash opened her first studio, which has provided her with years of creative challenges and accomplishment. Susan’s creative voice has always found inspiration in the world of Realism expression, specifically the old methods employed by the Old Masters, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Titian and other notables.
Susan is an exhibiting and award recipient member of Oil Painters of American, The Portrait Soc. Of America, as well as a member of The International Guild Of Realism (IGOR), with her work having been juried/exhibited in numerous galleries throughout the USA. Susan’s workshop studies have been with Roberta Remy, Deborah Paris and John Yerger and my paintings have been published in American Art Collector magazine in their July/2010 and October/2013 issues.
