Bald Eagle By Karl Soderlund
Bald Eagle and Buffalo:
Both are synonymous with emblems of the United States of America. The bald Eagle became the official symbol of the U.S. in 1782 and most recently the Buffalo became the national mammal of the United States in 2016. Because their image has been so widely used as a part in U.S. currency I chose actual examples as the background of their painting. Specifically the Buffalo is made up of the Indian Head Nickel with other symbols telling the history of the Buffalo and it’s almost extinction during the country’s expansion. The Bald Eagle is made up of symbols of coins with the eagle depicted on them.
